I was out at a ranch this past weekend, and the weather was perfect.

Warm enough in the afternoon to do things, walk around, sit outside, be useful. But cold enough once the sun went down to justify a fire. And fires… fires feed my soul.

There’s something about them that slows everything down. They’re peaceful and primal at the same time. You sit. You stare. You don’t multitask. You just exist for a bit.

I know it’s a weird in-between season, but I’m kind of loving it. Warm days. Cold nights. Fire when you need it. That’s a good rhythm.
