I love this season. The family rhythm slows just enough. The kids sleep in (not too late—that still annoys me). The evenings feel less rushed, probably because the sun sticks around like it’s got nowhere else to be.

But my favorite time of day? The hour before 7 a.m.

It’s still cool outside. The birds are just starting to hold their morning planning meeting. My phone hasn’t started chirping. The coffee’s strong. I read—or more often, listen—to my Bible. And for a little while, things feel quiet. Still. Clear.

That’s when I gear up. Coil the spring. Realign the chaos in my head.
