To be clear, I love our teachers. I love our community. I love our school. But who decided it was a good idea to schedule seven events during the last week of school?
On a separate note, I still feel incredibly grateful for this weather. Cooler temps, a little rain, and a break from the usual heat has been such a gift. Hopefully it sticks around a bit longer for everyone’s sake and for the sake of our lakes.
🎢 Kids’ theme park opening in Frisco
The Gist: Universal Kids Resort is officially set to open July 1, in Frisco, just north of Dallas, making it a pretty easy road trip for local families. The park will include themed lands based on favorites like SpongeBob, Shrek, Minions, Jurassic World, Trolls, Puss in Boots, and Gabby’s Dollhouse, plus an on-site hotel and ticket packages that are already on sale.
Why It Matters: For families around here, this feels like a pretty exciting new road trip option. Instead of planning a huge vacation around a big theme park, this is designed to be more manageable for younger kids, with familiar characters, playful attractions, and everything built around family-friendly fun. We’re so excited to check it out and have a feeling plenty of local families will be, too!

Oak trimming season is officially here and now’s the time to get ahead of it. 🌳☀️ (Yes, it really starts July 1st, but waiting until then is how people end up scrambling when schedules are already packed.)
We hold off on live oak trimming until summer settles in and oak wilt risk drops, which is exactly why July 1st is our go time across Central Texas. It’s easy to remember and backed by arborists and beetles (not the band, sadly no concert tour involved).
So if your oaks are already leaning over roofs, sidewalks, or just generally acting like they pay rent, this is your heads-up to plan now instead of panic later. Because as the saying goes… proper planning prevents well, you know 😄
