🌵 New housing moves ahead in Bee Cave

I’ve eaten at Jack Allen’s a couple times recently, and you’d be hard-pressed to find another place in town that checks all the boxes quite like it.

Local-grown business. Local-sourced food. Great vibe. And basically anything chicken-fried is fantastic. The salads look amazing too. I did not try them, because I am not a quitter and went straight for the steak tacos. Highly recommended.

But it reminded me of something worth saying: when you buy from local companies, whether it's Jack Allen’s, your favorite coffee shop, the taco truck down the road, or yes, even my lawn company, Top Choice Lawn Care, more of that money stays here.

It goes to local employees, local banks, and gets spent at local restaurants, schools, churches, stores, and ballfields.

That dollar keeps bouncing around Austin instead of disappearing into some corporate spreadsheet three states away.

So next time you buy something, think about where that money goes.

The Gist: Bee Cave approved the pre-design package for a five-story apartment building at the Village at Spanish Oaks. The project includes amenities like a dog park, fitness center, plunge pool, and swim-up bar, though final site plans still need city approval.

Why It Matters: If you've been wondering when the long-planned Village at Spanish Oaks would start taking shape, this is one of the first visible steps. While it's still early in the process, the project is expected to bring more housing, along with the shops, offices, and other development planned for the area over time.

The Gist: Bee Cave is inviting residents to write their wishes for America and the community as part of a public Wish Wall at City Hall. Ribbons and markers are provided, and the display will be open through July 10 during City Hall business hours.

Why It Matters: It's a simple way for neighbors of all ages to reflect on what they'd like to see for Bee Cave and the country over the next 250 years. Whether it's a big dream or a small hope, everyone gets a chance to add their voice.
