Back to school already?! This is nuts. Didn’t we just start summer?

I’m excited for my kids to have indoor activities again, but I’m also a little sad to lose the free and flexible time we had over the summer.

The Gist: Lakeway City Council is considering a de minimis tax rate, the highest rate the city can adopt without triggering a voter-approval election, as it works to close a projected $1.6 million budget shortfall. If adopted, the rate would raise the average Lakeway homeowner’s city property tax bill by about $80 a year.

Why It Matters: For the average homeowner, that works out to about $6.67 a month. The city is also weighing other budget measures as it tries to close the gap. Council will continue reviewing the proposed budget and tax rates Aug. 17.
