$48 million project will expand Cavalier Stadium to 12,000 seats with new facilities

Lake Travis High School’s Cavalier Stadium is set for a complete overhaul, with construction beginning next month on a $48.3 million rebuild that will nearly double its seating capacity.

Project details

The Lake Travis ISD Board of Trustees approved the project in July, setting a guaranteed maximum price at just over $48 million. A filing to demolish the existing stadium and construct the new facility was registered with the state on Aug. 20.

The new stadium will expand seating from 7,400 to 12,000 and add upgraded facilities including a women’s field house, press box, locker rooms, concession stands, and a spirit store.

Funding plan

Voters approved $26.3 million in the district’s 2023 bond package specifically for stadium renovations. District officials said they were able to reallocate savings from other bond projects to cover the remaining costs.

Construction timeline

Work is scheduled to start in September and finish by the end of 2026, in time for future football seasons and other large-scale school events.
