A Leadership Chapter Closes

Eanes ISD Superintendent Jeff Arnett will retire at the end of July, the district announced earlier this week. Arnett, who has served in Eanes for nearly a decade, said the decision was emotional but comes at the right time for a leadership transition.

“Although the board graciously extended my contract, I believe this is the right time for fresh ideas and new energy to lead the district forward,” Arnett said. “It has been the greatest honor of my career to serve this exceptional community.”

A Career of Service

Arnett joined Eanes ISD in 2016 as deputy superintendent and was named superintendent in January 2022. Throughout his tenure, he contributed to major district initiatives including Envision Eanes, the Long-Range Facility Planning Committee, and the District Leadership Team.

His career spans education and communications roles across the Midwest, along with a position at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York—where he plans to return following his retirement.

What’s Next

The Eanes ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting on June 17 to begin the search for the district’s next superintendent. While a selection timeline has not been shared, the board is expected to begin formal recruitment in the coming weeks.

Arnett’s retirement will be effective July 31, closing a chapter of steady leadership in a district known for academic excellence and strong community involvement.
