🐶 Bee Cave Hosting the Cutest 'World's Largest Meetup' this Weekend

From courtroom wins to whiskey festivals—here’s what’s buzzing around West Austin and beyond.

Still Here. Still Local. Still Windblown.

Well, we launched—and we’ve already got close to our first 1,000 subscribers reading along. Thanks for being early!

If you’ve got a neighbor/friend/cousin/mom/coworker who might enjoy it, pass it on. And hit reply if there’s something you want more (or less) of—events, restaurants, real estate, taco truck gossip, jokes, pet photos, stories, etc. I’m all ears.

Also: April weather…make up your mind! The only month where you might need sunscreen, a jacket, and allergy meds before lunch. One of my kids has an April birthday, and some years we’re sweating through it.

Other years we’re handing out blankets. This past weekend? Windy enough to make the Kite Festival look like a Red Bull event. I didn’t make it out—but I assume several children went airborne.

Cheers!

āš–ļø Bee Cave Wins Brown Property Case

An estimated map of the land being acquired by the city (Image from beecavetexas.gov)

The Texas Court of Appeals has dismissed a lawsuit over Bee Cave’s Brown Property, a stretch of city-owned land near Hwy 71 and Great Divide Drive. The case, brought by Citizens for the Preservation of the Brown Property, aimed to halt a proposed road project through the northern portion of the site.

On April 3rd, the court ruled the trial court didn’t have the authority to decide the case. While the group may still appeal, the city’s plans now face fewer legal hurdles. Read more here.

šŸØ Bee Cave Opposes Nearby Resort Plan

Bee Cave officials are pushing back against a new luxury resort called White Rocks, planned just outside city limits in the Barton Creek Habitat Preserve. They’re worried about environmental damage, traffic, and light pollution.

The resort includes a 10,000-seat amphitheater, 600 condos, and a 150-room hotel. Developer Chris Milam, known for the Hill Country Galleria, is leading the project. A public meeting on a requested wastewater permit was held on April 8th. Read more here.

šŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø Pedestrian Upgrades Coming to Bee Cave

The city, in partnership with TxDOT, is enhancing pedestrian safety along Bee Cave Parkway and Bee Caves Road. Plans include new sidewalks on the south side of Bee Cave Parkway from Market Street to Bee Caves Road, and along Bee Caves Road from the Starbucks exit to Tennison Hill Drive.

A new crosswalk with push-button signals will also be added at their intersection. The city will cover 10% of the nearly $960,000 construction cost and contribute $280,000 for design plans. Construction must begin by 12/01/2026.
