Bee Cave Approves Texas 71 Medians Plan and Backs Arts Projects

New medians aim to enhance safety and traffic flow; city also boosts local arts with hotel tax funds

Medians Moving Forward on Texas 71

Bee Cave is moving forward with a newly approved plan to install medians along Texas Highway 71 between Hamilton Pool Road and Bee Creek Road. City Council gave the green light on May 13, following years of debate and community input.

The project is designed to improve safety and traffic flow by limiting cross-traffic and streamlining vehicle movement. City officials say the current open layout contributes to congestion and collisions, particularly during peak hours. The medians will help reduce sudden turns and confusion, making the corridor safer and more efficient for drivers.

Although the final construction timeline is still in development, future phases are expected to include additional upgrades to intersections and access points along the route.

Support for Local Arts Initiatives

In the same meeting, Bee Cave’s City Council allocated hotel occupancy tax funds to support two arts-focused projects with strong community backing.

  • Texas Youth Music Festival: The council approved $31,875 for this October event, which showcases young musical talent from across the state. The funding will support performance logistics, venue costs, and outreach.

  • Bee Cave Sculpture Park Enhancements: An additional $6,000 will go toward updates to the park, including the installation of new sculptures and refreshed signage. The park is a well-loved feature of the community, offering public art in a natural setting.

These initiatives align with the city’s goals of fostering cultural engagement and attracting tourism through creative events and public art.

Community-Focused Improvements

Together, the transportation and arts investments reflect Bee Cave’s commitment to both infrastructure and community vibrancy. Residents can expect continued updates as planning and implementation move ahead.
