The Gist: Lakeway City Council voted 4–3 to approve a 175-foot cellular tower on Highlands Boulevard, near the Mount Lakeway trailhead. The special use permit allows the tower to operate for 40 years and aims to improve cell coverage in the area. Some residents opposed the plan, citing property value and visual concerns, while city leaders pointed to public safety and service reliability needs.

Why It Matters: The new tower is expected to strengthen communication for residents and first responders in west Lakeway. A small change that could make staying connected a lot easier.
