Lake Travis is full! What great news.

That is an incredible amount of water and potentially months, maybe even years, of added security for our region. The best part is how unexpected it was. Even just a few days beforehand, almost no one thought we would see the lake rise this much.

I grew up making memories on Lake Travis. Summer days on the water, jumping off the boat, tubing with friends and family. It has been hard watching the lake sit so low for much of the past seven years. Every closed boat ramp and exposed island felt like another reminder of how badly we needed rain.

Not anymore. It is still the same lake, but it feels like Austin got a little piece of itself back.

The Gist: Bee Cave is repaving Bee Cave Parkway between RM 620 and Hwy. 71. The overnight project began July 19 and is expected to take four to six weeks, with lane closures and construction noise along the way.

Why It Matters: If you use Bee Cave Parkway in the evenings, plan for slower trips and occasional lane closures over the next month. The short-term disruption should help keep the road in better condition for years to come.
